Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 10, 2026

1. Overview

This Privacy Policy describes how Seeking Optimal ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares personal information when you use seekingoptimal.io and our related services (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here and to our Terms of Service.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide

  • Account information. When you sign up, our authentication provider (Clerk) collects your name, email address, and — if you sign in with a social provider such as Google — basic profile information from that provider.
  • Payment information. Subscription payments are processed by Stripe. Stripe collects your payment card details and billing information directly; we never receive or store your full card number. We receive limited information such as your subscription status and transaction history.
  • Discord username. If you join our Discord community or link your Discord account in account settings, we collect your Discord username so we can assign membership roles.
  • Communications. If you contact support or submit a form, we collect the information you include in your message.

Information collected automatically

  • Usage and log data. Like most websites, our servers and hosting providers automatically record information such as your IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, and timestamps.
  • Cookies. We use cookies that are essential for the Service to function, such as authentication session cookies set by Clerk. See Section 6 for details.

Information stored only in your browser

Your optimizer customizations — edited projections, locked and excluded players, and similar grid settings — are saved in your browser's local storage so they persist between visits. This data stays on your device and is not transmitted to or stored on our servers, except temporarily when you generate lineups.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the Service;
  • Authenticate you and secure your account;
  • Process subscription payments and manage your membership status;
  • Assign and remove Discord roles based on your membership status;
  • Send transactional emails, such as welcome emails and account or billing notices;
  • Send marketing and product-update emails, which you can opt out of at any time (see Section 9);
  • Respond to support requests;
  • Monitor, protect, and improve the Service, including detecting fraud and abuse; and
  • Comply with legal obligations.

Where laws such as the EU/UK GDPR apply, we process your information on the legal bases of performing our contract with you, our legitimate interests in operating and securing the Service, your consent (for marketing emails), and compliance with legal obligations.

4. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us operate the Service, and only as needed for them to perform their work for us:

  • Clerk — authentication and account management;
  • Stripe — payment processing and billing;
  • Amazon Web Services — cloud hosting and infrastructure;
  • Resend — transactional email delivery;
  • MailerLite — mailing list and marketing emails;
  • Discord — community access and membership role management.

We may also disclose information:

  • To comply with law, legal process, or enforceable government requests;
  • To enforce our Terms of Service or protect the rights, safety, or property of Seeking Optimal, our users, or others; or
  • In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case we will notify you of any change in ownership or use of your personal information.

5. Data Retention

We keep personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations (for example, tax and accounting records of payments), resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable period, except where retention is required by law.

6. Cookies and Local Storage

We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies, all of which are necessary for the Service to work:

  • Authentication cookies set by Clerk keep you signed in and protect your session.
  • Local storage in your browser saves your optimizer grid settings on your device, as described in Section 2.

You can clear cookies and local storage through your browser settings, but doing so will sign you out and reset your saved optimizer customizations.

7. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect your information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS), authentication handled by a dedicated identity provider, and payment processing handled entirely by Stripe. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. International Users

The Service is operated from the United States, and your information is processed and stored in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the U.S., you understand that your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S., where data protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction.

9. Your Choices and Rights

Marketing emails

You can opt out of marketing emails at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any marketing message. We will still send transactional emails related to your account and billing.

Access, correction, and deletion

You can update your account information in your account settings. To request a copy of your personal information or to request deletion of your account and associated data, email us at support@seekingoptimal.io. We will respond within the timeframes required by applicable law.

U.S. state privacy rights

Depending on your state of residence (including California), you may have rights to know what personal information we collect, to access or delete it, to correct inaccuracies, and to not receive discriminatory treatment for exercising these rights. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. To exercise these rights, contact us at the email above.

EU/UK rights

If the GDPR or UK GDPR applies to you, you also have the rights to object to or restrict certain processing, to data portability, to withdraw consent at any time, and to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

10. Children

The Service is intended for adults and is not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us at support@seekingoptimal.io and we will delete it.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide notice on the website or by email before the changes take effect. The "Last updated" date above reflects the current version.
